“There is nothing magical about kneeling, but there is something biblical about it. Posturing our bodies helps us posture our hearts. Bowing our hearts in reverence before God is what really matters, but I’ve found that it’s easier to do if I’m in a kneeling position.”
- Mark Batterson

TODAYS READING: Luke 21:1-4
PRAYER: "God, as I open myself up to you in these moments to read this passage fresh and anew, I ask that you reveal to me that which you would have me learn today. Help me see. More than that, I pray for transformation as I take what you show me and apply it to my life. Amen."
If we are not careful, we can easily jump to judgment based on external demonstrations of piety. We can very easily reach the point where we honor those who have money because their gifts are large monetarily, even though their actual sacrifices may be small. God, however, knows our hearts when we give. He knows what we hold back and why.
He also knows how much we sacrifice and the attitude which has prompted that sacrifice. All around us are people who are living for the Lord but who would seldom receive human recognition. Jesus, however, notices. He knows people's hearts as they give and serve.
Not one act of kindness we do in the name of Jesus and for the glory of the Kingdom will be forgotten. Not one sacrifice for the Savior will go unnoticed. He knows the truth behind our gifts and is blessed when they come from a generous, joyous, and sacrificial heart.
“Why is it important to God that we offer whatever we have to Him, even if it seems small by the world’s standards?
2. A key to prayer is to “stay humble and stay hungry.” How have these two attributes served in your prayer life? How do you deal with issues of pride that can rise up?
3. How have you seen God use humble beginnings in your life for something great in His purposes and plans?”
PRAYER: Father God, you own everything in the heavens and on the earth; please break me from the sinful habits of greed, worldliness, covetousness, and indiscipline. What your Son has done for me is much greater than any of my fleeting and temporary accomplishments. In Jesus' name. Amen.
